CASSIDA FLUID WG 460 – High-performance synthetic gear lubricants for worm gearboxes used in food and beverage processing equipment.
NSF (Class H1) has approved its use in locations where accidental food contact may occur. It is manufactured in compliance with FLT Quality Standards in establishments that have adopted HACCP audits, Good Manufacturing Practices, and the quality and hygiene management systems ISO 9001 and ISO 21469.
Features of Performance
- High resistance to micro-pitting
- Neutral odour and taste
- It provides exceptional load-carrying capacity, excellent corrosion resistance, and high thermal stability. Resistant to forming hazardous oxidation products
- Exceptionally low friction enables effective power transfer. Worm gear efficiency is measured to be higher than that of other oils.
- Water solubility is appropriate for use in environments where the equipment is regularly cleaned before and after usage and where water penetrates the lubricant is possible.
- Does NOT mix with mineral oils or PAO
Applications
- Highly suggested for usage in worm gear applications and other situations where superior thermal stability is needed
- Lubrication of enclosed gearboxes used in the food industry
- High load-carrying capability for extreme pressure applications
General Instructions
When switching from a lubricant based on mineral oil or PAO, the following protocol must be followed: After the machinery reaches room temperature, the oil should be completely drained. Reservoirs, pipelines, and other areas where oil can be trapped should receive extra care. The new oil must then be flushed through the system and drained before being replaced with brand-new, fresh lubrication.
Note: When exposed to CASSIDA FLUID WG, seals previously exposed to mineral oils may shrink, causing oil leaks. As such, they might occasionally need to be replaced.
Seal and Paint Compatibility
It complies with most elastomers, gaskets, and seals typically found in lubricating systems for food machinery. When dealing with high temperatures, nitrile rubber (NBR), fluoro-silicone, or vinyl-methyl polysiloxane (Q) is advised. Avoid leather, cork, asbestos paper, board, and elastomers made of polyurethane.
Note: refer to the section on change-over procedures for caution regarding seal shrinkage. Certain ordinary industrial paints become softer when exposed to CASSIDA FLUID WG. The best option for internal gearbox surfaces is to leave them unpainted or to treat them with a resilient substance, like two-part epoxy.
Handling and Storage
Food-grade lubricants must be kept out of direct sunlight and other heat sources and away from other lubricants, chemicals, and food items. They must be stored in the range of 0 to +40 °C. If the product has been stored under these conditions, we advise using it within five years of the date of production. The product must be used within two years of opening its packaging (or within five years of the date of manufacturing, whichever is sooner).
